ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – With only 19 days left before Election Day, United We Dream Action ramped up their efforts to ensure Michelle Luján Grisham is elected next governor of New Mexico with a new ad showing Steve Pearce running away from immigrant youth after he voted against them.
The 30-second ad features Pearce–a member of the extreme Freedom Caucus — ignoring, running away from a group of young immigrants after he is confronted for his vote to end the federal deportation relief program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in 2014.
The ad can be found on Twitter.
Isaac De Luna, Political Director for United We Dream Action in New Mexico:
“Steve Pearce’s voting record speaks for itself, and unless voters stop him, he will bring the same hateful and racist agenda he carried out in Congress to the land of enchantment if elected governor.
“Pearce has repeatedly turned his back on immigrant youth and pushed an a agenda that criminalizes people of color.
“UWDA is making sure voters across the state elect Michelle Luján Nov. 6th. New Mexicans deserve a leader who will stand with immigrants, not lie and run away from us.
