Washington, D.C. – This week billionaire and Democratic presidential candidate, Michael Bloomberg, tried to win our love by releasing his immigration plan. His release added to the list of underwhelming immigration plans by other moderate presidential candidates like Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg (Amy Klobuchar didn’t make this list because she has yet to even release an immigration plan).
Immigrant Youth of United We Dream Action (UWDA), said:
“Michael Bloomberg’s immigration plan, like the plans of other moderates in the race, won’t get any love from us this Valentine’s day! These policies have failed in Washington for decades and they don’t actually help people or communities.
We need candidates to commit to policies that allow people to be Free to Move, and Free to Stay. Immigrant youth of UWDA demand bold, progressive policies from visionary leaders. Policies that put people first by repealing racist laws that criminalize migration. Policies that provide us freedom from the enforcement machine by dismantling ICE and CBP, and true bold leadership from a candidate who will commit to stopping all deportations in their first 100 days.
A day after a progressive candidate won the New Hampshire primary, leaders of UWDA announced our process to decide whether or not to endorse a candidate for president. No matter who wins – UWDA leaders will be there to hold them accountable to delivering real protections for immigrants.”
