Biden, Harris, Schumer, and Pelosi make the decisions and they must find a way to deliver citizenship - no matter what.

Washington, D.C. – This evening, the Senate parliamentarian, an unelected advisor to the Senate, released her guidance on the inclusion of a pathway to citizenship in the budget reconciliation package. Despite a strong precedent and a substantial budgetary impact for including citizenship for immigrant youth, TPS holders and essential workers, the Senate parliamentarian has recommended against it.

Greisa Martinez Rosas, Executive Director of United We Dream Action, said:

“The Senate parliamentarian is an unelected advisor to the Senate and we know that Democrats like Senate Majority Leader Schumer, Speaker Pelosi, President Biden, and Vice President Harris hold all the power to do the right thing and deliver a pathway to citizenship for the millions of immigrant youth, TPS holders, farm workers, and other essential workers.

Brave and powerful Black, brown and progressive leaders have worked tirelessly to make the inclusion of citizenship in the reconciliation package a possibility. Democrats in Congress must deliver on their promises to the people. Leadership is about making bold decisions in times of great need. We need Democrats to be brave like the hundreds of thousands of members of United We Dream Action and our allies.”
