Washington, D.C. – Today, immigrant youth at United We Dream Action launched a bold and visionary campaign with the goal of driving over 1 million young voters across Arizona, Texas and Colorado to the polls this electoral cycle. From now until November, the Here to Stay campaign aims to mobilize a multiracial coalition of young voters who are fired up and ready to use their growing electoral power to back pro-immigrant policies and candidates and build a future where everyone’s rights, safety and freedoms are honored.
In the face of calculated and violent anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-immigrant assaults by MAGA extremists at the local, state and federal levels, the Here to Stay campaign will train, mobilize and energize young people to fight back and win unassailable protections that shield our communities from these rising threats against our lives and freedoms. Just today, the campaign released its first slate of endorsements for the re-election of Representatives Delia Ramirez (IL-03), Rashida Tlaib (MI-12), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) and Jamaal Bowman (NY-16), candidates who have shown a commitment to listening to young people and our demands.
Michelle Ming, Political Director for United We Dream Action, said:
“For millions of young people across the country, this election is far bigger than any one candidate; it is about our lives and our futures. As a generation, we have witnessed the unmistakable rise in fascist and white supremacist policies that threaten the existence of our mulitracial, queer communities in the very places we call home. From Arizona to Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma and more, MAGA extremists have sought every opportunity to brutalize us and our loved ones. From laying the foundations to carry out Trump’s Project 2025 plans of mass deportations through policies like SB4, to chipping away at our reproductive freedoms, and ignoring our urgent calls to address the climate emergency and the ongoing genocide in Palestine.
From now until November, the Here to Stay campaign will channel the undeniable electoral power of young voters of color to be able to win life-saving protections for our loved ones and build progressive, pro-immigrant futures where our needs, rights and safety are prioritized. Any political target who hopes to secure the support of young voters of color must be ready to deliver for our generation and the issues we care about. We will throw our political and electoral might behind those who can prove they will fight for us and work for us. Immigrant youth and our communities are HERE TO STAY.”
