Washington, D.C. – Yesterday evening, a Trump-appointed federal judge in Texas temporarily halted the Biden Administration’s newly initiated “Keeping Families Together” Parole in Place program. This comes on the heels of a cruel and baseless lawsuit filed last week by a group of hateful, anti-immigrant attorneys general, led by Texas, to try to end the life-changing program.

Bruna Sollod, Senior Political Director of United We Dream Action, said:

“This calculated and heartless attack on a program aimed at keeping families and loved ones together is a clear step towards enacting Trump’s plans to keep immigrants as vulnerable as possible and enact wide scale mass deportations if he was to be elected. Despite the vast majority of Americans who believe that families belong together, MAGA judges and politicians have set their sights on destroying any and all efforts intended to help people, whether it’s this latest attack, the efforts to block DACA recipients from accessing healthcare, or the decades-long attacks to end DACA.

With the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals set to begin oral arguments for DACA in October, the trajectory of these baseless MAGA lawsuits and halts are obvious. Immigrants are continually used as pawns to advance Trump and his MAGA allies’ hateful, anti-immigrant spectacle. In the face of these attacks, our communities will always show up stronger to fight for the future we want.”
