Washington DC – Today, the young leaders of United We Dream Action and partners at LUCHA, SEIU, CHIRLA Action Fund, Community Change Action, Make the Road Action Nevada, Make the Road Action Pennsylvania and more, launched a powerful new radio ad in the lead up to November where we’re told the story of Edder by his cousin Alejandra. Edder is a young man and former DACA recipient who was deported and separated from his family under Trump’s first-term in office. The ad was released across streaming platforms in Arizona’s Maricopa and Pima counties, Houston, Texas, and Nevada, and calls on young voters ages 18-30 to stop Trump this November. The ad will run until November 4, 2024.

Alejandra, Edder’s Cousin, said:
“Edder and I often talk about what it would mean if Trump were re-elected – and the fear millions of families just like mine would face about detention and deportation. Edder’s deportation was one of the most traumatic experiences my family has been through; it was like the light was gone when Edder was taken. None of us deserve to experience the pain of family separation, but it’s something Trump himself is promising to inflict on the lives of millions nationwide if he gets to the White House again. My priority is to do everything I can to stop him, for Edder’s sake, and for the people just like Edder who deserve to live free from fear, with dignity and with their loved ones. Together, we can stop Trump this November.”
Michelle Ming, Political Director of United We Dream Action, said:
“All of us have heard the vile promises Trump has made to carry out the largest mass deportation campaign in modern U.S. history, and it’s time the public takes those threats seriously. Our communities have lived through a Trump administration once before, and we know what a second term in office would mean for the people we love and the places we call home. It would mean federal law enforcement can arrive at our front steps, raid our homes, schools, and grocery stores to target our neighbors and friends who are undocumented. It means entire families and communities being destroyed, all for the MAGA right’s political theater and fear-mongering.
The young leaders of United We Dream Action have been clear from day one that we will not allow Trump to get anywhere near the White House again. In addition to contacting and mobilizing over one million young voters to vote against Trump by electing Vice President Harris, ads like these tell the stories of the very people who we have a responsibility to protect; people like Edder who are part of our families, play on our soccer teams, live on our block and are a fundamental part of our communities.”
César Fierros, Communications Director, Living United for Change in Arizona said:
“Donald Trump has vowed to conduct the largest deportation in the history of the United States, a dangerous and inhumane proposal that would deploy the military in our cities to tear families apart, instill fear in our communities, and push millions into the shadows. This plan is nothing more than an attack on immigrants and people of color, aiming to divide our country and strip away the freedoms we hold dear. Instead of offering real solutions, Trump’s agenda is rooted in hate and extremism, threatening the very fabric of our democracy.
LUCHA is committed to defeating Trump on election day once again. Since the start of the year our team has been in communities across Arizona knocking on hundreds of thousands of doors, deploying 200 canvassers across Arizona to hit our 1 million door knocking goal by election day. With about a month to go, our community will leave no stone unturned to reject hate, and move this country forward.”
