Phoenix, Arizona – As results begin to come in, it’s clear that the young voters are turning out in record numbers. United We Dream Action (UWDA), through its paid and volunteer voter engagement program, reached 2 million young voters in Arizona and Texas by recruiting, training and mobilizing over 100 volunteers and leaders. On Election Day alone, UWDA sent out 250,000 texts to ensure that voters had the information they needed to cast their vote.
Michelle Ming, Political Director of United We Dream Action, said:
“As a political home for young people across the country we know that young people care deeply about the issues that impact their day to day lives and their future. That’s why we engaged them early and frequently this election cycle to empower young people to use their voice and vote. Not only did we have text conversations, we also created culturally relevant content across digital platforms to keep them informed and engaged, and we came out to Phoenix for a GOTV weekend where we knocked on 20,000 doors with LUCHA, Seed the Vote, March for our Lives, Sunrise Movement, and Gen-Z for Change.
No matter what the final results are tonight, young people are the leaders we need in this next chapter of our country’s story. A story that will be shaped by young people across the country who care about abortion rights, climate change, gun violence prevention, and humane immigration policies that keep families together. We are not just the future – we are the present moment – and we will fight like hell to create the country that fully represents our love, imagination and ambitions.”
