Immigration

Criminalizing Immigrants: 

  • Trump is trying to divide us by setting us against one another. We must not fall for this rhetoric, immigrants want and need dignity. Immigrants should be free to move and stay in this country in peace.
  • Trump has set out to implement a white supremacist agenda and end the immigration system in the United States as we know it.
  • He wants to stop Black and brown people from being able to immigrate. Trump has already brought the asylum system to a halt, made getting a visa more difficult, and has scared immigrants from aid they deserve for fear of becoming a public charge & losing their immigration status.

DACA & TPS

On DACA: 

  • Trump has already shown he does not care about DACA. He is trying to end the program and to deport us and by reducing DACA to 1 year protections with no initial applications.

On TPS: 

  • Trump has been trying to end TPS since he first got into office. TPS holders have been in the United States for decades, building lives and community. TPS holders are friends, essential workers, family, and members of our community.
  • A TPS case is set to make its way to the Supreme Court soon where a newly appointed Justice could be the deciding vote on whether Trump can deport hundreds of thousands of people. 

Deportations

  • Trump has sent over 60,000 families and adults back to Mexico to await their immigration court hearings regarding asylum cases. 
  • Biden has promised to apply a moratorium on deportations on his first 100 days while deportations are evaluated.

COVID-19

  • Trump has admitted on tape to downplaying the virus which led to the death of 200,000 people and counting. This man purposely disposed of the lives of Black, brown, and disabled people. We absolutely cannot have another 4 years of Trump. [Trump Lied We Died #RememberInNov graphic]
  • Congress failed to include immigrants in the #COVID-19 relief packages. Now, immigrants like Margarita struggle to make ends meet with reduced hours at work. Watch and share her story. UndocumentedUnderCovid.com
  • Trump is not taking COVID-19 seriously because he knows that poor, Black, and brown people will be the most impacted by the pandemic. He’s put our community in harm’s way. Black and Latinx people are three times more likely to contact COVID-19 and two times as likely to die from COVID-19.
  • Trump’s failure on COVID is putting our community at risk! A majority of the children, teens and young adults dying of COVID-19 are Black, Latinx and indigineous.
  • Already more than 200,000 people have died because of Trump’s lies and inaction on COVID-19, 

Vote By Mail

  • The truth is Trump doesn’t want people to vote-by-mail because he thinks it will hurt his chances at the polls.
  • #VoteByMail is safe and secure. States safeguard mail-in ballots by using signature verification, tracking barcodes, 24-hour surveillance of ballot dropboxes, setting clear chains of custody for all ballots and more.
  • Trump is recklessly breeding mistrust in the security of mail-in voting as a distraction for his own political gain. Mail-in voting is one of the safest and most secure forms of voting available.
  • Since Trump and Melania prefer to vote-by-mail, so do we. 🙃

The Economy

  • Trump’s failed response to COVID-19 has forced 40 million Americans to file for unemployment, meanwhile his billionaire friends made $637 billion during this crisis. Trump continues to value profit over people and has failed us by blatantly lying about the deadliness of the virus and allowing communities to continue struggling to make ends meet.
  • Nationwide, 72% of Latinx households reported facing continued financial hardship from COVID-19 and 63% reported a loss in household income. These are not the signs of a thriving economy.
  • Families across the country are facing eviction, job losses, business closures and a lack of money needed to buy food and other basic necessities. Trump and Republicans in Congress have failed to address these real needs.
  • Trump has consistently targeted and harmed marginalized communities. Trump has: 
    • Separated families
    • Put kids in cages
    • Unleashed ICE and CBP on immigrants and BLM leaders
    • Lied to our communities about the dangers of COVID-19
  • Trump does not care about us. He doesn’t care about Latinx folks. He doesn’t care about Black folks. He doesn’t care about immigrant folks.

Racial Justice

  • Black people in this country are simply asking for justice without the threat of police violence. They are fighting for true equity. Trump is attacking them for fighting back against White Supremacy.
  • Protestors and organizers are seeking justice for the continued murders of Black people at the hands of the police. Trump has attacked protesters by deploying militarized police to target, harm and detain them.
  • Protesters are advocating for the safety and freedom of Black folks who have been continuously and disproportionately targeted by law enforcement. Violence at these protests is spurred by white supremacists whose motive is to silence and hurt those who are speaking out against injustice.
  • The loss of property can never be measured to the loss of Black lives at the hands of police.
