Media Availability: Interview Gen Z and Millennial Leaders Spearheading the Charge on Election Day

National – On Monday afternoon, the Count On Us new joint organizing effort announced plans to protect the results of Tuesday’s U.S. general election from the Trump campaign’s attempts to delegitimize mail-in ballots. The joint effort, which includes Dream Defenders, March for our Lives, Sunrise Movement and United We Dream Action PAC, has already recruited thousands to be prepared to take action if the Trump campaign attempts to declare victory before every vote is counted on Election Day.

Count On Us represents hundreds of thousands of young people organizing for racial, economic, climate, and immigrant justice, and against gun violence. Since launching, Count On Us has reached 70,000 people via livestream events and trained 5,000 young people for Election Day and post-election mobilizations.

“Our efforts to make sure each vote is counted is yet another testament to our collective power and history of taking action. We are the young people who took on the NRA, who are organizing to Abolish ICE and who won protections for immigrants, who made Black Lives Matter a national rallying cry and the Green New Deal a political priority,” said Rachel Gilmer, Dream Defenders Co-Director. “Our generation is going to make sure that every vote counts and that our democracy is protected.”

As generations fueled by grassroots social justice movements and a vision of a better future, Millennials and Gen Z voters are shattering voting records and becoming one of the nation’s most consequential voting blocs. Count On Us has been instrumental in mobilizing voters nationwide to defeat Trump, support bold, progressive policies, and elect candidates who champion those policies.

“We are one day away from kicking out the racist and greedy politicians who have ignored our needs these past four years,” said Bella D’Alacio, 20, a first-time voter, college student and leader with Count On Us. “Together we can make it happen and give a new administration a mandate for bold, progressive policies that deliver on our vision and help all people live and thrive.”
