San Francisco – Yesterday evening, immigrant youth and allies from United We Dream Action took action outside of San Francisco’s KQED radio station during House Speaker Pelosi’s live interview to demand she commits to passing citizenship for millions this year through reconciliation.
Jennifer Garcia, Member of United We Dream Action, said:
“In 2012, I was a part of history as one of the first groups of people approved for DACA for the first time. Now, I’m determined to be a part of history again by taking action alongside powerful and fearless immigrant young people and allies fighting to win citizenship for millions of people like me and my family this year.
House Speaker Pelosi made a promise to Build Back Better for all communities. This cannot happen if undocumented people continue to be excluded from life-saving recovery efforts. There is no recovery without immigrants, and I won’t accept broken promises. House Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Schumer must set an example and lead all Democrats in committing to passing a pathway to citizenship in the reconciliation package by any means necessary. This is the year to make history. Our communities cannot wait!”
