Who We Are

United We Dream Action (UWDA) is the lobbying, advocacy and electoral arm of United We Dream which is powered by immigrant youth, youth of color with immigrant family members, and everyday voters.

Our vision is a society which celebrates our diversity and we believe in leading a multi-ethnic, intersectional path to get there and that includes issues like: immigration, LGBTQIA rights, education, health, economy, climate change, and racial justice.

For five years, UWDA has build power by organizing people who are most directly impacted to ensure that they have the leadership and capacity to be strong and effective. We fight for legislation at the local, state and national level to improve the lives of our community and to create greater momentum across the country for the lasting change we seek.

Through UWDA, we organize in the streets, build cutting edge technology systems, open doors for LGBTQIA immigrant youth, clear pathways to education, stop deportations and create alliances across social movements.

In 2018, we chose to enter the election cycle arena for the first time because Trump and the Republicans killed significant protections for immigrants — among them Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) — and blocked all solutions that would provide permanent protections and a pathway to citizenship to this group of immigrants.

We knew that in order to build the power we needed to win protections for immigrant communities and people of color, we had to reach out to voters in our families and communities to elect champions in all levels of government!

Through our Here to Stay campaign, we also made endorsements for the first time ever! Rockin’ our orange swag, we knocked on countless doors and were successful in helping New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, Congresswoman Deb Haaland (NM-1) and Xochitl Torres Small (NM-2), Congressman Josh Harder (CA-10), Texas State Representative Julie Johnson, and Harris County Commissioner Lina Hidalgo win their seats.

This year, our Live Unafraid campaign is our way of sharing our stories with the public, informing them about the inhumane Deportation Force of ICE and CBP, and showing them how we can win justice and dignity for immigrants and all people.

We are ready to continue taking the reins on our future! Here we go again!

We’ll raise our voice and fight to ensure that we:

Live Unafraid of deportation of incarceration of racial profiling to raise our voices to thrive together to elect freedom to live our best life NOW!
